Glu Gin - hot mulled wine cocktail

On a cold winter night you need to warm yourself! This delicious hot cocktail will do the trick in several ways! Try the glu gin and you'll find out what love on first taste feels like! Time to make a couple of liters now! Those bottles go way to fast! So drink with care :)

Servings 1 ,6 liters


  • 500 ml Gin best result for now with beefeater gin
  • 500 ml Gluhwein best result for now with Christkindles markt Gluhwein
  • 300 ml water
  • 200 gr. sugar
  • 1 thumb sliced ginger
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 mandarins with peel
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tsp sukade dried candied citron peel
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 2 tsp dried elderflower optional (but delicious)


  1. Take a pan and add the sugar and all flavorizers. Wait a couple of minutes for the sugar to extract the flavors and slightly start to heat.

    If you can't find some of the spices you might use this mulling spices mix too or just go creative and try out your own profile!

  2. Once the sugar is melting pour the water in the pan and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

  3. Filter the spices out of the syrup and let cool down.

  4. Mix the gin, gluhwein and homemade syrup. 

  5. Gently heat the glu gin but make sure it doesn't boil. 

Serve hot with a twig of charred rosemary for a heartwarming night.
