  • 4 cl lemon juice
  • 4 cl smokey lemonade
  • 4 cl devil's tail gin
  • 4 cl limoncello
  • 16 cl ginger ale
  • 2 cl elderflower syrup

For the Smokey Lemon syrup

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 200 ml sugar
  • 250 ml water
  • 4 lemons

For the garnishes

  • 1 slice lemon
  • 5 dried mallow flowers
  • 1 pinch smoked paprika powder

Smokey Lemon syrup

  1. Add 1 tsp smoked paprika powder to a tea bag and put it in a pan with the sugar and water. Set aside for 15 minutes.

If you don't have a tea bag to fill you can put the paprika powder directly into the water and filter it afterwards with a coffee filter too!

  2. While the water is infusing with the smoked paprika: peel the lemons and grill them until they are nicely charred over direct fire. Put the peels and slices of lemon for the garnishes on an indirect heat source (you can split the coals in areas for this) to dry out.

  3. Once the lemons are charred you add them to the pan and bring the syrup to a boiling point for 3 minutes. Add some of the lemon peels too!

Let the rest of the peels (about 1/2) and the garnishing slices on the low heat side of the grill until they are dried out and crispy! about an hour or 2 (depending how thick you sliced them and the heat of your grill)

  4. Let cool down with the lemons, lemon peels and smoked paprika powder in the syrup. Once it's cooled pour it in a large bottle. You can save the syrup for a couple of days!

For the sneaky bastard cocktail

  1. Now the hard part is done! Mix all ingredients and taste! You can add more gin for more heat or less if you're not a fan of heat! If you want it sweeter you can add more syrup, and so on! It's a bit of a search to bring it to your balance since there are some unexpected flavors in this cocktail! But you'll get there! I posted the recipe tested on 6 people and this is how they prefered it!

    Btw: they were pleasantly surprised!

  2. Garnish with a slice of dried lemon, dried flowers and a pinch of smoked paprika powder!

Have a mindblowing drink! But watch out! The sneaky bastard might punch you in the face if you're not paying attention! So drink safely!
