Koreaanse kippenhartjes

Miso gemarineerde Oosterse Kippenhartjes

Those who follow this blog might know how much we love Chicken Hearts over here. And Asian style food. So why not combine both? I made a Korean inspired marinade for the chicken hearts before grilling them on the Traeger Pellet smoker. It’s a delicious and easy appetizer to serve for the daredevils amongst your guests. But those who dare will love them for sure! I wonder who would try them! Let me know in the comment section or on social media. But most of all: enjoy your next BBQ session!

Ingredients

  • 500 gr chicken hearts

Marinade

  • 3 Tbsp white miso
  • 3 Tbsp black rice wine
  • 2 Tbsp sweet soy sauce
  • 1 thumb grated ginger
  • 1 lime zest and juice
  • 2 spring onions

Finishing touch

  • nanami togarashi at taste
  • 1 kaffir lime zest (can be replaced by regular lime if you can't find kaffir).
  • spring onions at taste

Instructions

Marinade

  • Mix all marinade ingredients thoroughly. Taste and add more lime juice when desired (depending on the sice of the lime)
  • Skew the chicken hearts about 3 per skewer and marinate them for at about 6 hrs.

BBQ time

  • Prepare your BBQ for a session on direct heat (+-220-250°C)
  • Remove the biggest parts of the marinade but make sure a thin layer of taste is left on the skewers. Place them on the hot grill.
  • Grill the skewers for about 2/3 minutes on each side until they are slightly charred and golden brown.

Finishing touch.

  • Plate the skewers and sprinkle some Nanami Togarashi (assorted chili), kaffir lime juice and spring onions at taste over the skewers.

Enjoy!!
